Working on my master degree
Wed, Jul 11, 2007
In the next semester I won’t be working at CMD, but I will try to get my master degree. I am planning to use this weblog to write about my progress.
Two subjects will dominate this weblog for this period: The first is Accessibility of the programming of the Dutch public broadcasters in the new media age. New media have given the Dutch broadcasters a lot more opportunities to gain access to their public. But the new media have also increased the complexity of accessing the content. What policies can be applied to keep the programming accessible to large audiences?
The second subject is the way search engines are used by experienced users. Experienced users click trough search results of a search engine at high speeds, seemingly without much thought. How does this work? What heuristics do they use? Under what circumstances do users stop using heuristics and start thinking? More about this subject in my post 50 ms decisions
So for some time there won’t be anything on this blog about Web 2.0, Flex, Air and other development subjects. I’m really looking forward writing about these subjects. Though it’s kind of scary to move out the field of programming, and read and write more about communication aspects.
